A behind-the-scenes experience
CAI participants recently visited the Paramount Theatre for a behind-the-scenes tour and an introduction to the many roles that support live performances.
For many in our group, the theater was already a familiar and exciting place. This visit created an opportunity to see a different side of it by learning how much planning, coordination, and teamwork goes into each production.
Learning about theater roles
Joel Friend, Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship, guided our group through the visit and shared helpful insight into how the theater operates.
Participants learned about a variety of roles, including ushering, ticket taking, coat check, stage management, and set design. Seeing the range of responsibilities involved helped participants better understand how many different strengths and interests can fit within a theater environment.
Exploring future opportunities
For some participants, the visit sparked interest in guest-facing roles that involve helping and welcoming others. For others, it highlighted the importance of behind-the-scenes work that helps everything run smoothly.
Experiences like this support CAI’s mission by helping participants explore new environments, build confidence, and connect their interests to real-world opportunities.
Thank you to the Paramount Theatre
We are grateful to the Paramount Theatre and Joel Friend for welcoming our group and providing such an informative experience.
This visit gave participants the chance to learn more about theater operations while also seeing new possibilities for volunteering, community involvement, and future employment.
