Our Butterfly Project came to a beautiful conclusion with a visit to Peck Butterfly Garden, where participants had the opportunity to see many of the butterfly species they had spent weeks learning about.

The project began in June when we received five tiny Painted Lady caterpillars and a butterfly growing kit. Over the following weeks, participants carefully observed and documented each stage of their development, recording their growth, eating habits, and remarkable transformation.

Within two weeks, the caterpillars formed chrysalids. Just over a week later, all five successfully emerged as beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. To celebrate this exciting milestone, we invited our friends from Weston Bridges and Bardwell Residences to join us as we released the butterflies into our shared courtyard.

Our visit to Peck Butterfly Garden allowed participants to continue exploring the fascinating world of butterflies while learning about native species and their important role in our environment. It was the perfect ending to a hands-on learning experience that combined science, observation, and community.

Needless to say—we all agreed that butterflies are pretty amazing!
